Traveling HR Generalist / Employee Relations

Reports to: Director of HR & Payroll Compliance
Location: Salinas, CA and Imperial Valley, CA
Relocation: This position is required to relocate to Imperial Valley, CA for 5 months every year (Mid-November through Mid-April)
Pay Range: $25+ per hour
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Under the direct supervision, this position provides administrative support for the human resources department. In addition to answering phones, typing, filing, and scheduling, performs duties such as record keeping, coordination of meetings and conferences, and special projects. Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Deals with a diverse group of external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in recruitment efforts for non-exempt and exempt personnel; help coordinate the use of temporary employees
- Assist with development / updates needed for job descriptions
- Help maintain company organization charts and employee directory
- Provide training to new and returning employees in Employee Handbook, Sexual Harassment and safety related topics.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals
- Assist with employee relations and investigations, policy administration and keep current with applicable employment and safety laws
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines
- Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database as needed
- Investigate and attempt to resolve employees’ concerns or objections to disciplinary actions.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Maintains records of harvest personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Investigate and attempt to resolve employees’ concerns or objections to disciplinary actions.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Maintains records of harvest personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required
- Ability to travel as needed
- Must have a valid driver’s license

- Ability to efficiently present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, clients, and customers of the organization.
