Pay Range: $22 + DOE


Work Schedule: Work schedules for this position are based on production needs and may vary. This role is considered a night shift position.

  • 2nd shift will not begin earlier than 3:00PM, which aligns with the completion of an 8-hour 1st shift.

  • Typical start times are between 4:00PM and 4:30PM, though start times may range from as early as 3:00PM to as late as 5:00PM.

  • End times and total hours worked may vary depending on production demands.

SUMMARY 

The ReceivingCrew Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production operations within assigned areas of the receiving and processing departments, ensuring efficient workflow, product quality, food safety, and employee performance. This role serves as the first line of supervision on the production floor, providing leadership, direction, and support to production crews while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational goals. The Crew Lead coordinates staffing, monitors production output, resolves operational issues, and promotes a positive, team-oriented work environment. This position plays a critical role in achieving productivity targets, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring safe and sanitary operations throughout the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor processing and packaging activities during the workday including observation of the crews to maintain productivity and quality.

  • Assign employees to their tasks in accordance with the contract and production needs; rotation in difficult jobs; performance standards met; supervisors are advised of problems which you cannot solve.

  • Ensure that safety practices and procedures are followed.

  • Enforce disciplinary standards by counseling employees as first approach and recommend progressive discipline to supervisors.

  • Ensure that materials are put away at end of shifts – bins in cold rooms, hand stacked cases to cold room and boxes are returned to mezzanine.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of cost standard concepts.

  • Understand quality standards and safety standards.

  • Possess good people skills including resolution of conflicts, communications and giving clear direction.

  • Knowledge of electricity, instrumentation, schematics preferred

  • Knowledge of basic programmable logic controls (PLC) preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Windows operating systems.

  • Strong math skills and apply basic algebra and geometry.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

  • Ability to work any shift and weekends as required

  • Good communication skills, team building, team development and teamwork

OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak seasonal schedules as required.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) — must be able to read, write, and speak at an advanced level in both languages.

  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment, excellent time management skills, self-motivated, attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multitask, great organizational skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to work in a respectful and professional manner with all levels of employees.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Work onsite and meet position’s attendance schedule, as required by the job.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written

  • Ability to efficiently present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, clients and customers of the organization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work to be performed in varied environments: indoors in a climate-controlled environment, refrigerated cooler production facility, shipping and receiving warehouse, and outdoors in varied weather as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged sitting and terminal use.

  • Flexibility to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time as needed.

  • May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
