GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Understanding of Company’s Quality Policy, principles of Food Safety and GMP’s. Implements these principles on a regular basis and assist staff members and other in compliance. Responsible for supervising, coaching and mentoring the QA staff providing direction through ongoing performance feedback. Will work closely with Production, Purchasing, Field, Receiving, Inventory, Refrigeration and Maintenance departments providing guidance and support to Food Safety & Quality issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform Food Safety and Quality audits and lead monthly food safety meetings
Provide marginal product disposition and decide how deviations from food safety and quality programs should be handled.
Summarize and report Food Safety and Quality data
Lead the microbiological and pest control programs.
Review Food Safety and Quality paperwork and develop/update SOP’s as needed.
Plan, coordinate and audit quality assurance activities of field, receiving, production and shipping departments ensuring all activities meet quality standards.
Hire, train and supervise 7 support staff
Provide technical assistance to production, sales, marketing, vendors and co-packers.
Review and analyze data gathered from shelf life studies, raw product evaluations, other test conducted by QA support to determine if any corrective actions are required.
Evaluates and understands performance trends in Quality programs and escalates improvement needs with leadership as needed.
Supports QA manager with investigation of problems on the production floor and provide recommendations through root cause analysis.
Meet Occasionally with customers QA reps or Bird dogs
Adapts to other duties and responsibilities assigned by QA management without previous notice.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Food Science or related field
3-5 years experience supervising employees
Knowledge of microbiology, fresh vegetables, HACCP, GMA and GAP
Strong communication, negotiating and conflict resolution skills
Excellent computer and written skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
