GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Primary responsibility of the Packaging Demand Planner is to analyze current packaging inventory to evaluate effectiveness. Position will also be responsible for ensuring yards will maintain accurate inventory levels, as well as responding to inventory related issues. In addition, the individual will be directly involved in placing purchase orders of direct materials, report inventories, obsolete and aged inventory of packaging and produce items.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently analyze the carton yard inventory and determine the quantity to order in multiple yards, ensuring the inventory is turning at the appropriate rate.
Use Tableau to understand usage of packaging items.
Manage vendors and ensure they are complying with our min/max program.
Determine order quantities for blanket make to order packaging from approved vendors.
Coordinate transfers of materials at the end of each season and within the carton yards.
Create purchase orders for different packaging and oversee the purchase order process.
Maintain and update vendor database and contact information.
Reconcile inventories at month-end for packaging items for financials and verify pricing info of packaging items.
Communicate ad-hoc reports on aged and obsolete materials to Director of Procurement.
Create and report third party billings.
Work with Finance and Suppliers to resolve PO quantity and pricing issues.
Collect and data entry bill-of-ladings (BOL) in Famous.
Work directly with carton yard and field operations personnel.
Support Vice President of Packaging Procurement and Director of Packaging Materials by providing analytical insights, coordinating cross-functional projects, and executing procurement operational initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience in purchasing, accounting or supply chain.
Experience in production planning and packaging required.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year college or university preferred but not required.
High School Diploma required.
Proficient in MS Office, intermediate Excel, PowerPoint, accounting and invoicing.
Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to travel to Holtville, CA and Yuma, AZ locations as required
Must be able to take calls after hours and on weekends
Flexibility to work occasional Saturdays and evenings as required by operational needs.
Ability to perform computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; solve practical problems by applying mathematical techniques such as formulas and percentages.
Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet required attendance schedules.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Skilled in solving problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write simple correspondence.
