Senior Production Line Supervisor

Department: Production 

Location: San Juan Bautista, CA & Yuma, AZ

Reports to: Production Manager

Pay Range: $75,000 - $80,000


General Purpose of The Job:  Senior Production Line Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, direction and support to ensure completion of production schedule while adhering to safety, quality and cost.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must maintain good communication, and respect all coworkers physically and through the radio communication.
  • Information that is shared with supervisors regarding other employees and company must be kept confidential.
  • Must make sure that lunch waivers are being completed on time as well as checking HRS on ADP on a timely manner.
  • Must abide by the core values; a) Food / Employee Safety b) Quality/Customer Service c) Efficiencies/Yield.
  • Develop lead associates, facilitate all areas of people management such as corrective action, attendance, PTO, and other plant policies.
  • Develop leads to take ownership of key measures such as yields, labor, safety, and quality.
  • Will oversee operations of multiple departments in an efficient manner.
  • Must ensure that product is properly handled, washed, and dried without contamination.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by assuring the employees are properly trained.

 

  • Produce quality of product to customer and company specifications.
  • Efficiency of the production line form the dumpers to pack out. Maintain a steady product flow throughout the line to get the maximum efficiency of inspectors, driers, and packaging machines.
  • Maximize product yield without jeopardizing food safety or quality.
  • Need to hit KOIs (Key Operating Indicators) line efficiencies, staffing, yield, and operating cost for your department.
  • Identify and report discrepancies with your line such as; equipment malfunction, spill points, etc.
  • Take ownership of Red Zone for their lines. Document all downtime on the Red Zone system.
  • Should constantly be planning on continuous improvements for (OEE)
  • Should be on the production floor (work area) 80% of their shift.

Education and/or Experience/Trainings:

  • One to two years supervisory experience in a produce processing plant or similar industry.
  • Prefer additional two-year proven track record in a produce processing production environment with respect to supervising labor costs to target.

Work Efficiencies:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to read schedules and estimate completion times
  • Ability to do basic math to calculate portions, line capacity, line efficiency, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate both orally and written in English and Spanish, (bilingual preferred).
  • Ability to motivate, coach and communicate with employees and take disciplinary actions when required.
  • Able to work days, nights, weekends, in a cold and wet environments

Other Skills and Abilities: 

  • Able to travel/relocate as required
  • English speaking, reading and writing are required. Bi-lingual is a plus but not required.

Work Environment: 

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to a cold (34-36 degrees F) and wet manufacturing environment, the smell of chlorine, outside weather conditions, uneven walking surfaces, heavy machinery, forklift traffic and loud noise.
