Position: Shop Assistant
Location: Salinas, CA
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Shop Assistant will be responsible for planning, recording, and reviewing various activities within the maintenance department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Driver files
• Log books
• Recording drug testing, medical cards, licenses and DMV printouts
• Bus drivers timekeeping-once a week (Mondays)
• Updating insurance cards and registration on all vehicles (once a month)
• Updating trailer services in Excel
• Keeping up with smog’s, equipment being changed on equipment list, trucks, pickups, tractors and machines
• Recording GPS of all trucks and speed limit data
• Reporting of fuel-usage in Excel
• Keeping oversized permits up to date
• Tracking of trucks and pickups crossing Yuma, AZ state line are in accordance with IFTA
• Filling usage of purchasing invoicing and equipment being capitalized
• Recording transition loads and obtaining P.O. #
• Tracking of meal receipts during seasonal transition
• Scheduling of Driver meetings (required each quarter)
• Coordinating Bus Driver training classes
• Providing radios to staff and updating the tracking list
• Forecast print outs
• Logging DTRs (once a week)
• Completing credit card expenses (once a month)
• Keeping up with EPA #
• Coordinating removal of waste and recycling with waste crew
• Maintaining the usage of paint in the paint booth
• Tracking driver fix-it tickets
• Keeping up with Kalmar
• Confirming staff members are actively enrolled in insurance by conducting audits (monthly)
• Generating insurance claims reports
• Running orders with log books and decals, as well as keeping stock
• Keeping up with Samba programs
• Recording counts on supplies and Clements truck (first of the month)
• Follow up with radom pull for Department of Transportation
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma required
• Valid California Driver License
• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent time management, customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent communicator
• Self-motivated
• Reliable and punctual
• Data entry
ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ability to work occasional Saturdays and evenings
