Refrigeration Technician

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Summary: Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair and replacement of all refrigeration equipment including but not limited to electrical equipment, systems, and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Experienced with large ammonia refrigeration systems including, but not limited to operation, maintenance, and repairs

  • Applicant must possess a thorough understanding of refrigeration system components, including, pumps, chillers, evaporators, condensers, compressors, etc.

  • Strong electrical skills including PLC controls and ladder logic Allen Bradley based PLC software, motor control centers, VFDs etc.

  • Troubleshoot 480-volt power systems with 24vdc and 120-volt controls systems, utilizing a lap top when needed.

  • Read electrical prints and drawings

  • Use electrical test instruments such as volt meter, meg-ohm meter, amp meter.

  • Must be knowledgeable about and willing to PM and repair all dock and facility equipment including but not limited to dock ramps, dock restraints, dock doors, general lighting, racking, pumps, plumbing etc.

  • Familiar with governmental regulations such as Cal OSHA, Air Quality, and other agencies.

Education and/or Experience

Required: Current RETA Certification. Preferred: Certification in Industrial Maintenance or Electrical.

Required: 2 years or more experience in facilities and Maintenance Management Repair within a produce processing plant or related manufacturer.

Computer Skills

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office software. Experience and proficiency in database software a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to work occasional long and sometimes irregular hours including working night shifts, weekends and holiday hours.

  • Climb ladders and work in confined spaces
