Position: Quality Control Specialist
Reports to: Director of Food Safety
Location: Monterey County (Salinas, CA office) & Imperial/Yuma County (Holtville, CA office)
*Fresno County (Huron season)
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for the success of Quality compliance, oversee quality control systems and auditing compliance. Responsible for scheduled departmental reports in addition to the successful implementation of Church Brothers and Customer specific quality requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Knowledge of Agricultural field operations & Good Agricultural Practices
• Implementation of Company’s Food Safety, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) & Good Handling Practices (GHP) written programs
• Provide timely communication to commodity managers and production department of field quality assessments
• Maintain communication with customer inspectors and manage private label field approvals
• Monitor food safety, traceability and specifications to determine present standards and maintain quality and reliability of harvested product
• Maintain quality control objectives complementary to the company’s policies and goals
• Complete trainings for the harvest crew forepersons, employees, etc. as well as continual verification of implemented quality standards
• Maintaining Grower & Harvest Crew (internal & external) compliance with client specifications
• Inspection of crews and fields to verify compliance to quality standards
• Take pictures/create field assessments for review amongst Production and Sales departments review
• Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/TRAINNING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of agricultural field operations
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid class C California driver’s license; acceptable driving record
Bi-lingual in English/Spanish.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other computer software programs as needed/required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; effectively communicate
Excellent attendance and punctuality
Work well in a team setting as well as individually
Strong time management skills
Exercise ability to Identify potential problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and solutions
