Because of their competitive natures, Jeff and Brian Church said they both enjoy dealing with the challenges that come with being involved in the fresh produce sector. Since the brothers joined the company shortly after it was founded by their father, Tom, and uncle, Steve, both young men have had ample opportunities to exercise their problem solving skills.
As with any produce company that experiences solid growth, the dynamics of the business are continually in flux, which means that one has to be ready to adjust to whatever Mother Nature or the marketplace throws his way.
Both the brothers informally began their ag careers while still attending school in Salinas. They spent summers working in the family's original ag business. Whether it was at the cooler or out in the fields, the boys were learning about agriculture from the ground level up.
